This is a digital 8mm video camera made with a IMX462 module and a raspberry pi compute module. This device has the following notable features:

Manual/automatic exposure/white balance
Parfocal lens with back focus adjustment and marco mode
Record video in 25/30 frames per second (PAL/NTSC) in 4:2:2/4:2:0 chroma sub-sampling format
Adjustable video compression
Capture still pictures in PNG or other format
HDMI output for monitoring or be used as a webcam
Customizable 12 buttons and 4 analog knobs
Flippy screen
Relatively portable size

You are welcomed to make this camera yourself. Depending on the availability of components, you might need to modify the topology of the circuit or the structure of the shell. Retro Cam is licensed under GNU GPL v3. If you use Retro Cam in your application/made modifications to the Retro Cam and published your software, you will have to also publish the source code to your program.

Retro Cam

"Retro Cam" is a video capturing/camera controlling/recording program that runs on Linux. It has such functionalities:

Capture video from /dev/video* via V4L2.
Record video with selectable encoders.
Synchronized audio capturing and recording through jack. (Still working on it)
Camera control interface.
Customizable hardware buttons and knobs at run time.
Easily expandable to other hardware platforms.
